About the event
Please join us to honor “National First Responders Appreciation Day”! To celebrate our appreciation for law enforcement, we’ve organized this event which combines an educational seminar with a fundraiser for a local law enforcement non-profit organization.
~Educational Seminar: A 911 Dispatcher will educate the kids on how the 911 system works, when to call 911 and what pertinent information the dispatcher will ask to get you the help needed. She will also touch on the new generation "mobile" age, where most homes do not have a land line and how this has changed the 911 system.
~Fundraiser: Two of our mamas in this community founded a non-profit organization called, Blue Line Safe House. When on-duty officers are involved in a critical incident, this organization provides respite housing for the officer and their family. To support this worthy cause and show appreciation for our local law enforcement community, we’ll be collecting donations at the event; more information to follow.
~Additional activities may include a raffle for cool swag, making gratitude cards, refreshments, and hopefully mingling with first responders.
The event will start at 11am sharp. Please be sure to arrive early, so there will be no distractions once the presentations begin. This is a family friendly event and is appropriate for children. We do ask, however, if your littles get squirmy or noisy, to please take them outside to be respectful of the speakers and other guests.
We are trying to get first responders who are in our homeschool community to attend this event to be recognized and maybe do a brief Q&A with the kids. Please contact me (Katrina) directly to give me a heads up if someone in your family who is a first responder can attend.
Katrina is the point of contact: 619-201-3566. The actual First Responders Day is Oct 28th, but we are celebrating early.
