About the event

This meetup will be hosted by Elizabeth Griswold! (818-651-2309)

This nature reserve is truly a gem. We enjoy doing the mile long hike  (1/2 mile up, 1/2 mile down), then playing and chilling by the creek, hopping stones, and discovering all the native flora and fauna.  Just before we embark on our hike, I will invite the kids to gather at a special spot by the creek and sing our HOMESCHOOL SONG!  I envision the kids getting so familiar with it that, at some point, they will be able to sing all the parts on their own!

Location: Once you're driving on Harmony Grove Road, the sign for Elfin Forrest Recreational Reserve will "flag" you down.  You'll turn into the little road entering the Reserve, which winds down to the parking lot.  We'll meet at the trail head by the portapotties right next to the parking lot. Please RSVP so that I can take note of who to find! Reception is a bit spotty there, but you can also call me when you're there.

If you have more than one little one, you may wish to bring another adult to help you keep everyone safe. Of course we have a culture in this group of helping eachother, and we truly delight in doing so!  But ultimately, you are responsible for your child(ren)'s safety, so please just keep that in mind, and tune in to what guidance or limits your particular child(ren) may need to stay safe. Elfin Forrest is a large reserve, has a creek, and high-up-there trails.  I will also be setting some ground rules to keep our growing group of children safe!

Some things you may like to bring to leave in the car or pack in your bag: drinking water, hats, bathing suits, water shoes if you have them, extra clothes, snacks/lunch, nature journals.

Any other questions? Please don't hesitate to reach out to me via call or text!
