Let's Explore! The Tidepools at Windansea
Fri, Feb 28
|Windansea Beach
There will be a -1' tide at 3:42 this afternoon. While not a king tide, any negative tide is a great opportunity to explore our tide pools. Windansea is a local favorite, less crowded than La Jolla and has easier parking. Let's head down and see what we can find as the tide is rolling out.

About the event
Be sure to wear water shoes with good traction. We do NOT recommend going barefoot.
Bring plenty of water and snacks as necessary.
Street parking in the adjacent neighborhood. There are a few spots in front of the beach by Neptune and Nautilus. We'll most likely be closer to Neptune and Palomar where there is a big staircase headed down to the beach.

What are tidepools? Imagine as the ocean retracts, leaving behind the rocky floor with pockets of small “pools” that sea creatures (sea anenomies, sea slugs, hermit crabs, mussels, fish, and so much more) hang out and wait for the ocean to return.
Tucked into a residential neighborhood of La Jolla, there’s a fun spot in Windansea beach that offers a long walkway of exploration when the tide is low.
