About the event
This event has reached full capacity, but you may sign up for the waitlist below.
The point of contact for this event is Katrina Phruksukarn: 619-201-3566. Please read ALL of these details for proper registration. Clicking RSVP in the app, does NOT secure your spot. You must pre-register and prepay.
What: We will be participating in the “Something's Fishy” field trip! Get your hands all scaly and slimy with this dissection. Students will learn about the ins and outs of a fish and how their internal anatomy is really not that different than ours! Through this fun, interactive dissection, students explore the internal and external parts that help a fish survive in a marine environment. Activities will include outdoor exhibit exploration, dissection, lunch, self-guided scavenger hunt and trails walk.
Cost: The cost is dependent upon the number of students that register for this field trip. The minimum cost is $10 per person (adults and students are both required to pay), with the maximum of $15. When you register, you are required to pay a $10 deposit per person. Two weeks prior to the event, we will update you on the final cost and expect a final payment of no more than $5/person. (At this rate, you will be paying LESS THAN it costs for general admission to explore the center, while getting an even more incredible experience!).
Age: This program is designed for 3rd-5th graders. If you have younger siblings that would like to participate, that's OK, but please understand the content & difficulty of the dissection will be roughly at a 4th grade level. Another option- you may explore the center with younger siblings while your older child participates in the field trip (in this case, purchase general admission tickets upon arrival and only pay me for the child participating in the Something's Fishy program; kids 2 and under are free).
Time: NO LATE ARRIVALS WILL BE PERMITTED. You must arrive at the parking lot no later than 9:00am. The ONLY way to get into the center is by taking a shuttle from the parking lot to the center. We have a shuttle reserved for our group, which is leaving at 9:15am. If you miss the shuttle, you will have to wait until the shuttles start running for the general public (which I think is close to 10am, which means you will miss a good portion of the field trip). There is absolutely no way around this; it is out of our hands. The program will conclude around 1:30pm, but you are welcome to stay and continue to explore the center for as long as you’d like after the field trip. Here is a link for directions.
Registration: Pre-registration is required. This event is full, but fill out the registration form to be added to the waitlist (do not submit payment) Click here to sign up.
