***UPDATE: There is now a waitlist for this program. Clicking the RSVP button in the app does NOT reserve your spot in this event. Only those who have completed the registration form, submitted the $5 deposit, and received a confirmation from Katrina may attend. Please see the link below to be added to the waitlist. You will be notified only if a spot opens up.
Program details:
We are participating in UCSD’s Neurosciences Outreach Program, where a graduate student will present fundamental principles in neuroscience and inspire our children to explore scientific fields. Specifically, there will be two modules taught:
~Sheep Brains: A hands-on neuroanatomy lesson with real sheep brains.
~Electromyogram (EMG): A “shocking” lesson about the brain's ability to control muscles.
Age range is 2nd to 6th grade. This can be flexible on the upper end- if you have a 7th grader who is DYING to work with sheep brains or is extremely into this field, we will allow for that. The kids will be broken up into 2 groups (grades 2/3 and grades 4/6 to allow for age-appropriate lessons).
This is a free program; however, since space is limited to 25 students, and we have already reached the limit. Fill out this form to be added to the waitlist. If a spot opens up, you will be notified and asked to pay a $5 deposit. The deposit will be refunded when you arrive at the event. If you no-show, you will forfeit the $5 deposit:
