About the event

Fellow Nature Lovers,

We are going to start Outdoor Adventure Kids (OAK) group here in the San Clemente surrounding area. This will be for kids that are 8-18, but younger siblings are more than welcome to join.

It will be on Fridays, from 10:30 - 2:30, and this is what it will entail:

Games to start our day every Friday. These are games that will teach your kids nature skills and awareness without them even know it. Parents are recommended to play as well, we all know kids get even more excited if their parents play as well. So - this is not a time to check your emails.. this is a time to show kids that you like nature and having fun as well.

Then we will move into sit spot. If sit spot is not familiar to you, watch this: (scroll down to core routine 1 - sit spot video) http://naturekidsconnect.com/core-routines.

Sit spot is something that is learned over time, especially with littles, and is an amazing skill. Each kid (and Momma/Dad) will have a nature journal that they will journal in during this time. Journals could be anything.. drawings, paintings, words, stories, pieces of bark taped to your journal, whatever you so desire!

Then we will move to lunch and story time. Kids are always so excited to tell us about what happened during their sit spot, so we will allow the kids time to come and share what they saw, found.

Third hour will be our activity time. Activities will vary every week. We will be using knives (8+) during some of these activities. We will be having free wander time, we will be doing fun things that will make your kids more aware of nature, survival skills, etc. (We will be doing a lot of things from Exploring Nature with Children, and from the book called Coyote’s Guide to Connecting with Nature”)

Fourth hour is free time. In theory - if we can find the right location, this where kids wander off and have a great time.. making forts, playing in streams, whatever they want to do that day.

If this is something that you would be interested in, and want to possibly commit your Fridays too, let me know!

This event has a group. You’re welcome to join the group once you register for the event.
