Outdoor Self-Reliance & Survival Course (Sep 8, 15, 22, 29, 30)

The La Mesa Homeschool Collective is so excited to partner with Martin Ferreira (Thrive With Martin) to offer this 5 day outdoor course where kids will learn the following skills to inspire self-reliance: first aid, land navigation (topographical maps, compass use), basic gardening, introduction to foraging, animal husbandry, knot tying, and fishing.

DATES (May not sign up for individual days): Four Thursdays in September: Sept 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 9am to 1pm in Jamul, with a 5th day on Friday September 30th from 6am - anytime (all day if you'd like!) at El Capitan Lake in Lakeside, where the kids will fish and put their new skills to use. Families are welcome! I know 6am is early, but it is SO worth it! The fish are biting before it gets hot and it's beautiful out there. (The 6am start time is flexible, so don’t let that be a showstopper for signing up)

COST: $200 for the whole course, which includes a fishing pole and all materials for the class. Also, great news- Thrive With Martin is a vendor for several charters (he may also be listed as White Dragon). Check with your charter school.
