About the event

As of Jan 2nd, registration is now closed. An update has been made to the original posting. This event is now free; however, there will only be one lesson, rather than 2. Also, we're planning to meet at the Lindo Lake skate park afterwards. Join us there!

The point of contact for this event is Katrina: 619-201-3566. Please read all details below carefully (you will need to click "see more"), as this is a special, fee-based workshop with limited space. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.

Location: North Community Room at the Lakeside Library.

Ages: Kinder to 8th grade

Cost: Free

We are bringing in special guest instructors from “I Love a Clean San Diego” to give a 45-minute workshop (presentation and activity) called Otter Nonsense. Students will discover how pollution affects our local watersheds as it enters our rivers through storm drains and flows toward the Pacific Ocean. They will learn the important, yet delicate balance in an ecosystem as we discuss the relationship between sea otters, sea urchins, and kelp. We cover food webs, resource conservation, and human impacts on fragile ecosystems. Students will leave with challenge cards inspiring small actions to keep our environment and waterways clean. This presentation is very interactive as students will be able to participate in a game based on the information they learn!

Registration is first come, first served (deadline is Jan 2). Clicking RSVP on the event posting in the app does not reserve your spot. Registration plus payment will hold your spot in this event.

This event has a group. You’re welcome to join the group once you register for the event.
