Hello! I am considering starting our homeschool journey as a homeschooler with a charter school. I am mostly interested in doing this for the funds to hopefully pay for a sport - have any of you had success with them covering something like soccer or gymnastics/dance?
Which leads me to my next question, which charter do you like working with? I would love one that isn't overbearing with curriculum preferences and has nice staff..etc. hopefully not too much to ask! 😜
We’ve covered sports with funds from Coastal Academy.
Hi! We are with Sage Oak. The vendor options are less than what you find with PCA, but we have enjoyed it. We have done swimming, horseback riding, outdoor classes, etc.
PCA is usually the most relaxed. You are the teacher and the HST is just your guide and middle man….they don’t pay for sports like soccer unless it’s just a class or maybe camp that is put on by an approved vendor. The programs like AYSO are not approved and so it’s out of pocket.
We withdrew from using a charter. You can file a PSA land do it on your own. It is super simple especially in the younger years. We’ve been homeschooling 10 years and did the PSA filing the first 5 and used a charter the last 5 but the playing field of homeschooling with a charter has changed so much year after year that we are tired of all the added things. Reach out if you need anything else. Chat feature works too!
We charter through pacific coast academy. We’ve been able to have them cover gymnastics with Oceanside gymnastics and dance at blessed feet in San Marcos.
