Hi there,
I saw someone posting about a survival skills camp. I would love to find a survival skills workshop for my kids and several of our friends. Ideally I would love it to be like once a week for a month or if that didnt work maybe once a month for 4 months? We would like to use our PCA funds and for the kids to learn survival skills like fort building, wilderness safety (how to know if water is safe to enter, poisonous plants, what to do if you see a rattle snake, etc), knot tying, etc.
I dont know who to contact regarding this? I couldn’t see any contact info for the person throwing the camp. If anyone has suggestions let me know.
Hello, I was one of the teachers for the survival skills camp. I teach classes at Rock Creek and through Little scouts Nature classes as well as individual groups as well. My background for survival skills is based on backpacking with a Native American group in Arizona for three months in the dessert and Mountains to learn the various terrains. Feel free to let me know if you would like more info.
We’re doing a class right now out in Jamul. Sounds like exactly what your looking for. Approved vendor of PCA. Message me back and I’ll try and find the info about it. I’m in the La Mesa group and they posted it there. Once a week for 4 weeks, knots, first aid, compass/maps/navigation, fire starting is what we’ve covered up to this point. Last day is a day fishing on a lake implantation of new skills. He even gave us fish poles to keep and use. $200 4 hours once a week for a month. It’s been awesome.
You guys need to try look into Fort Cross. They offer survival skills but it’s a one time thing. They are up in Santa Ysabel.
Homeschool Collective is hosting the camp, if you have questions about the camp please let me know. You can post this in the Community Space to maybe get more info. Many people don’t know their way around the new app.
