I spent my childhood in Maine, climbing trees and playing in the woods for hours on end. I relocated to San Diego County over 20 years ago and now live in La Mesa with my wonderful husband and 3 boys. We began homeschooling in fall of 2020, and we haven’t looked back! We love our new homeschool lifestyle, but we missed being part of a community. My goal with leading this collective is to build community, create long-term friendships, and bring people together to share ideas, knowledge, laughter, tears, curriculum, and everything else that goes along with this amazing homeschool journey. Our homeschool journey began when we decided to part ways with the public school system in the fall of 2020. My passions include photography, teaching, sewing, all things crafty, and anything else that allows me to express my creativity. My family loves enjoying the sunshine! In our free time, you can catch us walking around the Zoo, Safari Park, and Balboa Park, going to the movies, or at one of our favorite restaurants. Amber Snow Hi, I'm Amber 👋 I'm a single mom to one amazing daughter and lifelong lover of doing things a little... well ...differently 😉 As an entrepreneur with ADHD, I’ve never really done “conventional,” so homeschooling felt like a natural fit for our outside-the-box life when preschool seemed like it didn't align. We've been at it since 2020 and going strong. I’ve been planning events for decades , and while I’m definitely an introvert at heart, I light up when I get to bring people together. Especially in ways that feel welcoming, inclusive, and real 🙌 Don’t be surprised if I crack a joke, say something awkward, or look mildly unapproachable while actually wanting to connect. I'm not mad, that's just my face. 🤣 I’m passionate about honoring neurodiversity, individuality, and building community that doesn’t put anyone in a box. I believe in doing what works for your family, and celebrating the variety that homeschooling brings. We live in the University Heights/North Park area and although I'd usually rather be online, I’ll always show up. I know the value of community and it's worth the effort. I believe it’s my responsibility as a homeschool parent to create meaningful, safe, and fun social opportunities for our kids. Especially as the mom of an only. Our deserve to build friendships, explore the world, and grow in environments where they feel seen and supported. I’m so grateful to be part of helping make that happen. We’ve been learning together at home since 2014. Homeschooling was always the path I envisioned for our family, and I feel incredibly grateful that we’ve had the freedom to follow it. In 2020, our circle of community closed. It changed while the world was changing along with it. We had to make a shift as a family. We decided to move to North County San Diego in late 2020 to be closer to family. While this was a blessing in some ways, it changed so much for us in terms of what we had built within the homeschool world around us. We had to shift from what we knew and begin to grow new connections. Things grew in ways we hadn’t imagined...and then grew even bigger. We poured our hearts and souls into supporting others and now have this community we call Homeschool Collective. In 2025, our family relocated to West Phoenix, Arizona, and I brought with me a strong desire to continue growing what we had built in California - something that was never just about us, but about all families seeking meaningful support. My hope and dream is to extend this beautifully supportive and thriving group of humans across all states. That vision from 2020 has become Homeschool Collective: a place where families can come together, find resources, form real friendships, and know they are not alone on this journey.
