meet our co-op lead Crystal Gwinnup Howdy! I'm a wife, stay at home mom of 8, and many more micro titles that are too many to list here. Haha! I have 5 girls and 3 boys. I NEVER saw myself homeschooling, ever! I didn't even know it was a thing before I was married in 2003. I even resisted the idea of it for years. I finally gave in when we made a move to the midwest and said "I'll take it one year at a time." Well I've been homeschooling since 2010 and have just keep renewing my promise to my husband and the Lord every year. I love family and friends and hope to add to each category by being here. CONTACT A CO-OP LEAD meet our Tween co-op lead Amanda Stock Hello, my name is Amanda! I am a San Diego native. I live in the Point Loma area with my husband and our four kids. Along with homeschooling, I am a web developer and photographer. We have been homeschooling since 2010. Over the years, I’ve learned that community is one of the most important aspects of homeschooling - for both kids and parents! We wouldn’t be where we are today without the amazing homeschooling families we have connected with over the years. I look forward to meeting you and creating many enriching and rewarding experiences together on this crazy journey! CONTACT A CO-OP LEAD SUBMIT INFO TO JOIN THIS CO-OP!

Meet Our Co-op Leads Anya Wietholter I have two sons and my older son had attended public school for 3 years before we decided to homeschool. The decision to homeschool can feel overwhelming and finding a supportive and happy group of parents who are already successfully educating their children at home gave me the confidence to take the leap. April Mendiola Hello my name is April, mother of 3. Born and raised in California, and 8 year resident of gorgeous Carlsbad. We’ve been homeschooling for two years and are grateful for the community that we’ve built, that have now become family to us. Jenny Bowman Hello homeschool families! As a mom of two littles under 8 I know how important community is. It truly does take a village. I am happy to build community with our amazing group and support each other in our endeavors to build up the next generation. Looking forward to seeing some of you at our next meet up. Stefanie Servin I am a teacher and mom of two in our third year of homeschooling. We became homeschoolers when I wanted my 2nd grade son to be more challenged in the classroom with hands on learning and less worksheets. Our homeschool journey consists of a lot of outdoor hours and finding daily learning opportunities as we travel through life together. The world really is our classroom! Sara Shields Samantha Sarsilmaz Hello! My name is Samantha! I am a mom of two girls, wife and business owner and have been homeschooling since 2019. I knew I wanted to homeschool, but started much sooner then I thought. I took 1 year prior to educate myself as much as possible at all of the different options out there for homeschooling. I was scared and excited all wrapped into one! Each year has grown and evolved as we find our way on this amazing journey of homeschooling. The one thing that I learned quickly is how important creating your community is. I first started with hosting moms in my home to talk about all things homeschooling. From those gatherings it was expressed from many of the moms that co-ops were needed, a gathering of kids and their parent to have fun outings, learning opportunities and community. North County Homeschool Collective was born and has grown with the collaboration of this amazing lady to my right, Sara Shields and is where we are today! Welcome! We are happy you have landed here! Hello, welcome! My name is Sara. I am a wife and mother. We have three children whom we have homeschooled since 2014. It was always my intention to educate my children at home and we are each blessed to have the opportunity to do just that. We moved to Oceanside in the Fall of 2020 where shortly after I connected with Samantha and North County Homeschool Collective. She invited me into her home for a gathering where she introduced me to an amazing group of local homeschooling families. From that day forward I have seen the Collective grow in an amazing way. Samantha and I have seen the needs changing around us and we both wanted to provide more for our group. We came to realize this website was needed so it is our hope that this will aid in the gaps that we have come across. Anya Wietholter Raquel Cusi Michelle Landau ABOUT US OUR TEAM Our dream is to build a community that can grow with each family and their needs. meet our co-op lead Bianca Diaz Hello, my name is Bianca. I am a wife and mother of two. Prior to being a stay at home mom full-time I was a wedding florist for 22 years. In 2020 we pulled our children from public school and began homeschooling. We haven’t looked back. The bond with my girls has been the biggest reward. I have spent eight years as a volunteer in the public school system. I was the art docent for their school and also volunteered at another neighboring school. I truly believe art to be a strong tool in problem solving and developing a child’s ability to time manage, prioritize and see the greater picture! Homeschooling has allowed me the opportunity to watch my girls grow and understand how they learn. It’s truly a blessing. My greatest hope for being the East County Homeschool Collective Teen Lead is that I can bring parents and children together to bond and make deep meaningful relationships. Meet Our Co-Op Leads Katrina Phruksukarn Hi, I’m Katrina! I spent my childhood in Maine, climbing trees and playing in the woods for hours on end. I relocated to San Diego County over 20 years ago and now live in La Mesa with my wonderful husband and 3 boys. We began homeschooling in fall of 2020, and we haven’t looked back! We love our new homeschool lifestyle, but we missed being part of a community. My goal with leading this collective is to build community, create long-term friendships, and bring people together to share ideas, knowledge, laughter, tears, curriculum, and everything else that goes along with this amazing homeschool journey. I look forward to meeting you! Carina Schimpf Hello fellow homeschoolers! I love learning alongside my 3 children. My husband and I were born and raised in San Diego and are now raising our family next door to his childhood home in Santee. We never would have guessed homeschooling would be part of our journey, but I am SO grateful we took the leap at the end of 2021. I truly believe the best kind of learning is done outside of a classroom. As many of our close friends have moved out of California, as well as most of our family living out of state, we’ve been missing community. I’m excited to be here with you to cultivate friendships, connection, community, and support as we adventure and explore the outside! CONTACT A CO-OP LEAD SUBMIT YOUR INFO TO JOIN THIS CO-OP!

Meet Our Co-Op Leads Amanda Medina Hi there, I am Amanda, mother of two girls. One of my main priorities at this point is to create and find community with other fellow homeschooling families. Our family has quite a story, spanning over states, countries, cultures and even continents. I'm currently combining this new adventure of homeschooling my girls together with my husband, with running a business as a freelance translator, running a blog and podcast, as well as writing my first book. I love bringing people together and my intention as a mother and as a co-op lead is to bring together a village for our children to grow up with, where they can feel secure and protected, while also learning to meet challenges, build confidence and work to meet their full potential. I believe in building confidence from within, together in community. CONTACT A CO-OP LEAD Jessica "Coco" Borynack Hi, I'm Coco. My real name is Jessica, but Coco is my family's nickname for me. I have three kids: two boys and one girl - located in Tierrasanta. A little bit about our background: We're new-ish to homeschooling. Although I was homeschooled myself for most of my education, this is my kids' first official year starting and they began mid-semester last year. They are a part of a local charter. Currently I work remotely as a CART Captioner and provide live captions (exactly like the ones you see on TV) for people who are deaf or hard of hearing -- or who just enjoy the accessibility of captions!
